You’ve decided to head into Perth City for the Australia Day Long Weekend, and we’ve decided to help you hit the ground running by creating a fun-filled, four-day staycation itinerary. All the best bits of Perth and the Australia Day Long Weekend hand-picked and distilled into an easy to follow game plan – so all you have to do is show up.

Day One Snapshot

The long weekend starts now! Set your emails to autoreply or hang up the closed sign then head to Perth City to begin the festivities with a cocktail at sunset and a meander through the night markets. It’s time to unwind.

  • Take the day off.
  • Pack your essebtials for a weekend of fun!
  • Head to Perth City.

  • Head out for a cocktail.

    Morning

Even if you don’t manage to arrive until the afternoon, there is still plenty to do in Perth City once you’ve packed all your essentials for a weekend of fun. We suggest something light and breezy that lets you seamlessly transition from the hotel lounge to an evening out on the town.

  • Choose from hundreds of cafes in and around Perth

    Afternoon

Your long weekend staycation begins now! After checking into Doubletree byHilton Northbridge, we recommend heading out for a short walk to Henry Summer for an afternoon cocktail, expertly mixed by one of their talented bar staff. This is what the Australia Day Long Weekend is for, warm weather, cool drinks and pretending your work emails don’t exist.

  • Young scorchers fans cheering

    Evening

So you’ve had a cocktail or two at Henry Summer and are beginning to brainstorm ways you can make a living as a professional holiday reviewer – if there is such a thing? This is your cue to make your way to the Twilight Hawkers Market, which kicks off from 4.30pm in Forest Chase, to seek out a delicious street food dinner. You’ll need the energy, because the Perth Scorchers take on Adelaide Strikers at Optus Stadium at 6.10pm.

Day Two Snapshot

  • Recharge at the hotel for day three.
  • Perth City Farm

    Morning 2

Sure, you could sleep in, but then again, you’d be robbing yourself of precious holiday hours. A shower and an invigorating morning walk to Perth City Farm Café (a farm in the city? You bet!) for a nourishing, locally sourced breakfast is exactly what you need to get the most out of day two.

  • Murray Street Mall

    Afternoon 2

Feeling energised? We knew you would. Focus that energy with a stroll through the malls and arcades of the city – and treat yourself, it’s a holiday! After that, go relax at Summer Backyard with smooth DJ tunes, shade and activities in Forrest Place.

  • Fringe World Family

    Evening 2

It’s amazing what a little music and rest can do! Now comes the decision between a Fringe show (there are so many!), Jumanji: The Next Level at Moonlight Cinema, or Charlie’s Angels at Rooftop Movies. If you’re having trouble deciding, maybe stop for an early dinner. Everything will become clear after a delicious meal.
