Kings Park

In the very heart of Perth, just a short stroll from the City centre, you’ll find 400 hectares of tall trees, stunning bushland, lakes, sculpted gardens and picnic areas.

You can’t go past the king of all parks when you’re in the west end of Perth. Kings Park Botanic Garden is home to over six play areas for kids including Synergy Parkland (Dinosaur Playground), Ivey Watson Playground, Lotterywest Family Area, Rio Tinto Naturescape, DNA Tower, Saw Avenue Picnic Area and Variety Place to name a few. You’ll also find many cafes, BBQ areas, toilets and change facilities available across the park. You can also keep an eye on the many education programs Kings Park offers for kids of all age ranges.

Kings Park is a natural wonderland which contains the spectacular Western Australian Botanic Garden and is full of walking trails and running tracks surrounded by native plants, seasonal wildflowers and rich Aboriginal heritage.

There are over 3,000 different species of wildflowers on display at Kings Park with the best time to view them during the Kings Park Festival in September (learn more in the video below). See thousands of Western Australian wildflowers in full bloom and take part in dozens of free and fabulous events, displays, guided walks and talks, family activities and much more.

Free guided walks of the Western Australian Botanic Garden led by Kings Park Volunteer Guides are offered twice per day, every day of the year (except Christmas Day). Guided walks taking visitors into the natural bushland areas of the park are provided during Winter and Spring. Walks to celebrate special botanical and historical events are also offered at certain times throughout the year. It’s also home to the State's War Memorial and the Flame of Remembrance which hosts Perth’s biggest ANZAC Day dawn service every year. You'll also fin the Place of Reflection where people who have suffered loss can seek understanding, peace, hope, healing and renewal.

Several buses (24, 26, 27, 103, 935) run every 10 minutes along St Georges Terrace to Kings Park and the green CAT bus departs every 8 minutes from the Elizabeth Quay Bus Station.
