The City at New Year's Eve

Bring in the new year with FREE live music including Sam Perry; children’s entertainment; street performers and stunning fireworks!

With three stages across two venues, Yagan Square and the Perth Cultural Centre will come to life with this family friendly event that has something for everyone. 

An amusement zone in Yagan Square will offer a variety of rides and games on offer for the evening. 3 rides are available for only $10. Games will be $6 each.  

This event is proudly supported by Lotterywest. 

Stage Schedule

Centre Stage - Perth Cultural Centre

6pm Cherry Jane
A five-piece rock band full of tight harmonies, neat beats and sweet, deep slap bass. With souring vocal lines by sensational singer Amber Scates, this up-and-coming band is energetic, eclectic and infectious.

6.55pm Flossy
Flossy is a four-piece grunge pop/rock band fronted by sisters Lauren & Sinead O'Hara. Their music is fun and energetic with punchy rhythms, expertly matched harmonies and wailing guitar hooks. 

7.50pm Dulcie
Dulcie is an all-female four-piece pop band whose music has smooth melodic layers, beautiful arrangements and driving rhythms. 

8.45pm Butter
Smooth and tangy to the taste, Butter are a concoction of genres churned with the love of soul, jazz and 90's hip-hop.

9.00pm Kids Countdown & fireworks
Bring in 2020 with a short display of dazzling fireworks and an early countdown for families and young ones.

9.45pm Great Gable
Great Gable’s music is melodic and simple, yet cleverly layered providing a subtle twist on the alternative-indie sound.

11pm Sam Perry
Sam Perry is a one-man orchestra. Armed with only a loop station, effect pedal and microphone Perry is able to create layer upon layer of haunting vocal harmonies, heavy basslines and break-beat, beat boxed rhythms - live on the spot.

Bring in 2020 with the official midnight countdown and enjoy the best viewpoint for the spectacular firework display. 

Lotterywest Family Stage - Yagan Square

6pm Josephine & Goggles
This children’s show by The Josephine & Goggles is called ‘I Am Special’ and is an educational show about bullying and self-esteem.

6.35pm Circus Workshop
WA Circus School will conduct a children’s circus-skills workshop that will include hoops, ribbons, diablo and juggling.

7.10pm Patti Pig
One-night Patti and Jenny hear a strange sound coming from the forest right at the bottom of their garden and decide to investigate. This charming children’s tale children has an important environmental message presented in a fun and playful way.

7.45pm Bubbles & Balloons
Children will have loads fun making their own bubbles and popping giant bubbles created by the expert Bubble-ologist.

8.20pm Al Kazam
Presenting comedy-magic with puppet characters and good old-fashioned illusion, Al Kazam is a highly experienced magician who the kids will love.

9pm Kids Countdown & fireworks
Bring in 2020 with a short display of dazzling fireworks and an early countdown for families and young ones.

9pm James Wilson
James Wilson’s multi-instrumental stage set up requires extraordinary co-ordination as he plays a range of percussion, wind instruments, guitar and vocals…. all at the same time. He is one person producing the sound of three!

10.40pm Johnny Law
Johnny Law and the boys’ ever evolving style encompasses the great sounds of the 1950’s, with styles such as Americana, Rockabilly, Country and Rock and Roll.

Variety Stage - Yagan Square

6pm Smoking Ceremony
Aboriginal Elder, Dr Richard Walley AO will perform a traditional smoking ceremony to begin the evenings proceedings.

6.40pm Ross Vegas – Comedy
Ross Vegas combines the ancient art of circus and vaudeville, with human beat-box and vocal sound FX, to create a show unique worldwide. 

7.20pm Tone Deft Ladies Choir
The Tone Deft is a choir’s repertoire includes pop music and musical theatre and has a focus on performance techniques and creating high-quality music.

8pm Youth Circus
Student performers from various circus schools will perform a range of solo and group routines, such as juggling, contortion, acrobatics and balancing.

8.45pm The Sweet Teas – Vocal Trio
The Sweet Teas are a female vocal trio, delivering beautiful jazz songs with heart and sophisticated three-part harmonies.

9.00pm Kids Countdown & fireworks
Bring in 2020 with a short display of dazzling fireworks and an early countdown for families and young ones.

9.30pm The Big Hoo Haa - Improv Comedy
Hilarious improv comedy in the style of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ and ‘Thank God You’re Here!’. Two teams of fearless comedians take to the stage to do battle in a competition of wit, humour and bad mime skills. It’s a no-holds-barred race to the punch line.

10.10pm Michelle Smith – Harpist
Michelle Smith's versatility with her 47-string harp has made her a unique performer, wowing audiences in Australia and USA with her original solo Harp performances.

10.50pm Fliptease – Aerials
The Fliptease team will perform a series spectacular aerial acts tat will have you in awe!

11.30pm Dangerous Delights – Fire
This troupe of fire performers from Dangerous Delights harness the primal power of fire and fuse it with skilled fire manipulation to excite, enthral and entertain.
