Behind the Scenes Tour: Shaun Tan artwork from the State Library collection
Join State Library staff behind the scenes to see the Shaun Tan artwork held by the State Library in the Peter Williams collection of Australian picture book art. Oil paintings, unpublished illustrations, sculptures, notebooks, and sketches from books including Memorial (1999), The Lost Thing (2000), The Red Tree (2001) Rules of Summer (2013) and The Singing Bones (2015), provide a unique insight into Tan’s creative mind and artistic body of work.
This tour will begin in the the ground floor gallery in the 'CICADA' exhibition and will move to 3 different locations throughout the library to view artworks, sketches, drawings, notebooks. This tour will involve mostly walking and standing and will run for approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Some seating will be available at each of the tour stops. The tour stops are accessible via lift or stairs.
