In years gone by, if we had an empty corner in our living room, we’d look for an armchair or perhaps a floor lamp to fill that space; however these days, there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that that corner must be filled with a fiddle leaf fig - preferably housed in a stylish ceramic pot.
So if you have some space to fill in your home, here are the best spots in Perth to buy indoor plants.
Beans and Bunches, Northbridge
Down Arcade 189 on William Street (the same arcade that is home to Is Donburi and Francoforte) sits Beans and Bunches. This delightful little business, run by local florist Stacey, specialises in beautiful blooms - but Stacey also has a nice little range of indoor plants sure to add something special to your living space. (Her border collie, Bobby, is also a on hand if you fancy a side of dog cuddles with your plant shopping.)
Perth City Farm, East Perth
What better spot to find the perfect plant than our city’s garden oasis, Perth City Farm. ‘The Nursery’ at Perth City Farm is almost entirely run by volunteers, who offer their time to grow a variety of seasonal herbs, vegetables and flowers, plus a range of unusual and useful plants.
Just make sure you visit at the right time – plants are available just outside the City Farm Café (so grab a coffee first) Monday to Friday from 9am - 2.30pm, and on Saturday mornings at their Farmers Market from 8am – 12pm. And one handy tip: as Perth City Farm is an environmentally friendly, minimal waste organisation, they don’t put plastic labels on all their plants – so take a look at their plant photo album on their Facebook page to help identify the potted beauties.

While St Anne’s has made a name for itself with its gorgeous floral arrangements, they also have a huge variety of indoor plants – so pop in to their Perth Plant Shop on Newcastle to peruse their collection. If you can’t there yourself though, St Annes also have a website where you can order indoor plants across Perth, and even get them delivered to a loved one as gift alternative to flowers.
